A friend of mine who likes to hike low incline trails on weekends and
days off invited me and my wife for a walk North of Shawnigan Lake. This
was in an abandoned quarry half way up on the left hand side off of Thain road. Her website has a review of this and many other walks. Check it out!
It was an easy walk in with a crumbling paved road.
The quarry has filled in with water from the owner not using it. The building condition definitely shows that.
With some sprucing up, it could be either a post-apocalyptic set or an evil villain lair in a spy/action movie.
There is a trail that leads around the lake but we just sat on the top and had our lunch.
There were lots of dog owners around and a few ATVers.
We might try the trail one of these days. Definitely one of the many forgotten areas around Victoria, British Columbia.
