Blackfin Pub

The Blackfin pub is a fine establishment in Comox.

I had a flight of beers, of which the Bomber Parklife passionfruit ale was the best.

I also had the soup of the day (chicken couscous) and the Seafood Pubhouse sandwish (crab, shrimp, bacon). Delicious.

Cumberland Trails Again

We decided to walk on many trails over two days on the Cumberland Trail Network. For a more detailed map of the trail networks, go here

The first trail was Two and a Half Juice.

Then the Mama Bear trail.

We also walked the Friday's and Sunday's child trails.

The next day we walked the After School Special, 2 Flats, and Josh's trails.

Waverley Hotel

From what my wife says, the Waverley hotel in Cumberland is a musical destination icon. It was been known for bringing in mainstream and alternative as well as seasoned or up and coming performers.

We stopped here for a pint and to soak in the atmosphere which is wonderfully unique.

Moon's Records

In Cumberland there is an awesome record store called Moon's Records. There were lots of classic and new albums, turntables, books, skateboards, and music instruments.

They also had a used CD section in the back with many things that caught my eye. For under $80 I purchased all of these wonderful albums.

Cumberland Brewing Company

Cumberland Brewing Company is in the center of Cumberland in the Comox Valley.

I had the wonderful Rueben sandwich with a Dancing Linebacker oatmeal stout. My wife had the Finally IPA and falafel.

Kingfisher Resort - Meals

Here are some pictures of our meals at Kingfisher resort. Check out their menu here.

Kingfisher Resort - Second Stay

My wife and I recently returned to the Comox Valley and the Kingfisher resort. We stayed in the less expensive room this time and it was adequate for our needs as a great place to eat and for traveling around the Comox Valley.

The bed was spacious and comfortable.

Bathroom was just right.

The view of the courtyard from our balcony was excellent during the day...

...and night.

Endangered Species Chocolate

The Endangered Species brand of chocolate has a solid taste for the palette, not overly bitter. It is dark but creamy as well, almost tempting you to have more than two or three small cubes but the 72% blend reminds you that you shouldn't. My favorites were the straight up dark chocolate as well as the hazelnut toffee. They do have chocolate that is less than 72% but I prefer the darker chocolate normally.

The company was founded in 1993 and they have raised, through their chocolate sales, by donating 10% of their annual profits to help animals and their habitats around the world. A whopping $2.6 million since 2016. It is also made with fair trade chocolate. I encourage you to give it a try if you like dark chocolate.

Cafe Fantastico again

I posted about Cafe Fantastico's deli pizza boxes before, here. We have tried them again since and it is still delicious, with bread from Market Garden. They really know how to put on a spread and can still tailor make it for you. Looks like they only offer the $50 boxes now so we just got in with our $40 box.
