France - Normandy Day 3 - Tailleville

 Tailleville was the first stop away from Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, at 2pm, with Fort Garry Horse in Sherman tanks supporting. They encountered heavy resistance from the 736th German Grenadiers.
 In this corner, Alphonse Noel of the North Shore regiment was wounded. He returned in 2004 and was honored with this small flower garden and plaque. You can see the video of that, including his telling of the D-Day landings here.
I think this was part of the radar tower and defense network system the Germans had. It was in a farmer's field so we never went closer.
