(Delayed posting. Oct 2024)
It had been a while since we had been to Zambri's, which has always been a great Italian food experience in Victoria, so we made it a date night.
We ordered two appetizers and shared: Mason Street Farm fried zucchini blossom stuffed with ricotta and the Vancouver island chanterelles with taleggio and polenta. Both were complex and satisfying. The zucchini blossom in particular was a nice rejuvenation of a memory of having it, at a friend's place, some decades past.
With the main we got a Langhe Nebbiolo by Castello do Perno. Tasty and matched the pasta main that we ordered.
For a main we both had the house made pappardelle with wild boar ragu, ricotta salata, and chesnuts. The deep flavours indicated a long cooking time with quality ingredients.
For dessert I got a lovely chocolate cake with deep chocolate frosting with hazelnuts, creme, and strawberries. A lovely meal, as always.
