Terre Rouge

Terre Rouge is situated in downtown Charlottetown. It has PEI ingredients with modern flair.
Our amuse bouche was pickled onions on brie on local meat. Delicious!
I ordered the mussels and its a good thing my wife did not order an appetizer because I needed the help! The broth was also delicious and I sopped it up with the great bead that accompanied the meal.
My main was local lamb with a chickpea blend and mustard sauce. Fantastic!
My wife had a sheet of pasta on top of veggies and crumbled meat which she said tasted great.
We would eat here again.

The Pilot House

For lunch, we stopped at the Pilot House, nearby our B&B.
I had a stout and my wife had a cider, both local.
We then each had a buddah bowl, with lots of veggies. Everything was delicious.

Charlottetown

Charlottetown is the capitol of PEI, with a vibrant food and culture scene. Many older buildings are present and in great repair for architecture fans.

Winter River Hiking Trail

The Winter River hiking trail was another opportunity to stretch our legs in the shade. It was a pleasant walk with lots of interesting things to see.

Dalvay Beach

After supper, we walked along the beach nearby where we were staying, Dalvay Beach.
There were many groups of sandpipers that were fun to watch.

Dalvay-by-the-Sea Restaurant

Dalvay-by-the-Sea also has a fantastic restaurant. We also reserved for 530pm so had the place to ourselves for about a half hour.
The amuse bouche was a goat cheese on rubarb jam.
Each of us had the six oyster appetizer. The included a scotch eye dropper bottle to put into the shell to have with the oyster liquid. I do not like scotch but wow did it go well with the oyster juice!
With our mains we decided to splurge and get a bottle of French Pouilly-Fuisse.
I had the hand made pasta with mushrooms and is one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had.
My wife got the scallops with local vegetables.
For dessert I had a pastry.
My wife had the ice cream and sorbet.

Dalvay-By-The-Sea Hotel

Dalvay-by-the-sea is first rate accommodations on PEI. In hindsight a two day stay might have been better to take advantage of the canoes, bicycles, and such on the grounds. Alas.

Finished in 1895 it was a private residence until the family could no longer upkeep it. Various families took it over until it was sold in 1938 to the federal government to be added to the National Park. It was leased to operators to be used as a hotel and continues to be operated as such today.

The Dunes

The Dunes is an art gallery, restaurant, store, and gardens. I wanted to take my wife here as she has not experienced it before, but I had before. We were not disappointing with our lunch (local lamb burger with salad), had a relaxing time wandering around the gallery and store areas then went out back to the gardens.

Here are some pictures of the garden.
