Deadwood TV Series

Shakespeare has drama, comedy, violence, tragedy, and redemption. If he was alive today he, after a long tutelage of everything he would need to understand the setting, would love the Deadwood TV series.

The characters give so much of themselves on screen by what they do or cannot do, say or cannot say, and how their relationship changes between them. It is impressive. I was hooked after one episode. After the first season of 12 episodes I knew them like old friends or enemies. By the end of the 36 episodes and one TV film, I regretted saying goodbye.

Be aware, there is a lot of swearing and sexual content. I do not swear every sentence or two, like the characters in the series are, but they do it with such feeling and emotion that it sets the scenes every time.

If you want to read the transcripts, there are available here: https://deadwoodchronicles.com/deadwood-transcript-collection/  which I had to do when several episodes on my second season set were wonky.

Louis Pasture Pork Rinds

I have never been a huge fan of pork rinds. When they are taken off the outside of a pig on a spit that is special. Bought at a roadside gas station not so much. A few years back I was given a bag of BBQ flavoured pork rinds from Louis Pasture and it was divine. Melts in the mouth, great flavour, and overall delightful. They are pricey but well worth a treat. Recently they were on sale and I picked up a few bags to try other flavours and they were all fantastic. Highly recommended.

Here is the nutritional numbers and ingredient list.

Chocolates Favoris

Downtown Victoria is a Quebec import, Chocolates Favoris. It had been about ten years since I indulged myself here but after my supper downtown I felt like another treat.

I had the classic cone with vanilla soft serve coated with thick Tanzania 75% dark chocolate. The chocolate hardens quickly so less mess. I enjoyed it outside on one of thier lounge chairs and worked it off with a bike ride back home.

Ebizo Sushi

Open for at least two and a half decades, Ebizo Japanese restaurant is great place to get quality Japanese food. I used to come here a lot in the 90's but have not for some time. Not sure why.

I started with a miso soup and seaweed salad with a large hot house sake. All was excellent and the sake had nice plum notes. Also had a lovely green tea.

I then had the chirashi bowl, which is various sashimi and bites on top of sushi rice. Wonderful and fresh tasting.
