Gilsland to Haydongate Farm

This day's journey started with the hike from Gilsland to Haydongate Hut along the Hadrian's Wall trail.

Turret 52a
Hare hill portion of Hadrian's Wall. It is the tallest remaining stretch of Hadrian's wall at three meters, although this was rebuilt in the 19th century using Roman stone in the area.
