Turret 48a to Birdoswald Roman Fort

At Turret 48a we continue along Hadrian's wall to Birdoswald Roman fort.
The farmland here uses the vallum as the main road.
A really good section of wall, in Gilsland.
Turret 48b.
What it may have looked like.
A stone in a barn, taken from the Hadrian's wall a long time ago.
Nice stone steps to the riverside.
The foundations for the Roman bridge to Birdoswald Roman Fort.

The new bridge across the river to Birdoswald Roman fort.
