Streets of York - Part 2

Some more architecture and history of York!
Nice brick building!
Column of Constantine, site where he was announced as Emperor of the Roman Empire in 306 CE.
A statue to Constantine.
The York Art Gallery. Looks nice on the outside but did not have time to go in.
A bowman's shutter (facsimile), on the 13th and 14th century Abbey walls, used for the soldiers to shoot and pop back in while providing cover from falling missiles. The Abbey wall was to enclose that which the abbey was responsible for and had its own laws, court and military. You could also claim sanctuary at the gate. It was also built to keep the junior clergy and citizens in at night when their thoughts and deeds could stray.

An old hotel/pub, under renovations.
Lendell Tower, build around 1300 CE, is on the banks of the river Ouse. It can be rented to stay at (sleeps 6)
