Naramata - La Frenz, Elephant Island, and Joie Wineries

The Naramata region of British Columbia is a wonderful place to stop for people who enjoy a variety of great wine and food.

La Frenz Winery was our first stop. My wife particularly finds their wines the best in the region and we have been buying wines from them for over a decade. My favorites are the Riesling Clone 21B and Riesling Clone 49, both from 2017, and can be aged from five to seven years.
Elephant Island is also one of our favorites and they specialize in fruit wines, although they have been trying their hand with small batch white wine and buying up local fruits to make small batch cider. We bought some meat and cheese from their shop to eat while we had a free tasting. The orchard dog came by often to make sure we enjoyed the ambiance and it got very busy shortly after I took this picture. My wife really liked the Viognier while I liked all their fruit wines and the Viognier so we picked up some.
Last stop in Naramata was Joie Farms. They have up scaled since we were last here and the wines have improved as well. They also have appetizers available for sale separate from the tasting room in a lovely landscaped area that provides encouragement for the bees of their apiary. My wife picked up a couple of bottles to age.
