Helsinki - Radisson Blu Buffet and Lounge

Wow. The buffet at Radisson Blu Plaza is incredible. There are dozens and dozens of choices of items: meat, fish, cheese, bread, fruit, yogurt, cereals, pasties, fried items, omelets...ah the omelets. You have your choice from reindeer, creamy chanterelle, truffle mushroom, or smoked salmon with asparagus. Plus you can add or choose your own ingredients. That is how I had my first taste of reindeer, with herbs and tomatoes.
Delicious and tasted a little game like.

The room itself was wonderfully done up. It was the building that housed the headquarters of the S-Group or SOK for almost 100 years before it was sold to the Radisson corporation. S-Group is a cooperative throughout Finland, and some other counties, that provide goods and services. They even sold the first Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Finland. Their wiki page is here and I found out from it that they are known for their modernistic architecture since the 1920's.

Here is the main pillars in their eating section.
I like that the Radisson kept the historical elements, especially in their lounge.
The doors in the picture below lead to the outside corner of the building.
The stained glass has images of merchants helping the farmers, fishermen, and other workers.
Their carpet has a squid as a motif.
It could be that this is just a stained glass of lifting tree roots...or it could be the Finnish people were fighting alien facehuggers. You choose.
