Monsanto the Town

The town of Monsanto can trace its roots to the stone age with succeeding habitations during the time of the Romans, Visigoths, Moors, Knights Templar, Knights of Santiago and finally the government of Portugal. It is one of twelve historical villages throughout Portugal.

The reddish blob on the left side is Monsanto. The other things on the middle right is the castle (to be seen on the next post).

The citizens of Monsanto utilize the large boulders to build around and on top of.

A view down on top of the town.
 A piggy house.
