Sintra - Monserrate Palace - Grounds

The grounds surrounding Monserrate Palace were astounding in their wonderful meandering paths, flowers and new/old ruins. It was this design of grounds, restored in 1858, that inspired the English neo-classical movement.

This old church, for instance, looks like it was from the 14th century but was made shortly after 1858 for the sole purpose to look like an old ruin.
