Streets of York - Part 1

York is a very old community, originally established as Eboracum in 71 CE by the Roman Empire. It has been inhabited throughout its history by Normans, Vikings and beyond. Enjoy the pictures!
York minster cathedral in the background with many other eras of architecture.
Middle ages architecture adjoining the market square.
This is the market square which was the Jewish quarter until 1190 when zealotry and anger led to the setting fire to the area and the massacre of the cities Jewish population.
A wonderful mix of buildings.
Saint Martin's and their clock. More on the church in another post.
Who wouldn't want to free your inner unicorn and spread the magic after seeing this poster?
A row of lovely Georgian rowhouses with a slight curve to match the street.
