York Minster - Outside

York Minster is one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe and is still used by the Church of England. There was a church here, on top of the Roman headquarters, since 627. There was several churches built here, after fire or neglect, until the present structure was started in 1220 and not finished till 1472. It is 160 meters long, 68 meters wide and 72 meters tall.

There is always work being done to the cathedral. The current workers are from Germany. Therefore German work is being done on a Norman cathedral in Britain.
