In 1929, for 14 months, Sevilla hosted a world's fair of Spanish speaking countries called the Ibero-American Exposition. It was 170 acres in size, had 18 countries participating building pavilions, and moved Sevilla from its bygone heyday during the age of exploration to that of a modern city. It took 19 years to be ready for the multitude of people who attended. Many of the structures and the Maria Luisa park still remain.
The following is the Plaza de Espana, the main Spain exhibition site and largest of all the pavilions.
