The monastery of San Isidoro del Campo, in Santiponce near Roman Italica, was founded in 1301. After several reformist movements, in which the monastery took part in, it fell into disuse and neglect. It was taken over by the Spanish government in 1872 has been gradually renovated in recent decades.
