Spain Day 19a - Iglesia de Santo Tome

This 14th century church, Iglesia de Santo Tome is primarily noteworthy for the masterpiece painting by Toledo's El Greco: The Burial of the Lord of Orgaz.

The painting was done in situ by El Greco in 1586.

The Lord Orgaz, Don Gonzalo, is still buried in his tomb below the painting.

It was worthwhile admiring the painting for 15 minutes, in particular because it was not busy at the early hour we were here. The emotions present in the art were impressive. What follow are some close ups of the painting.
