Spain Day 12f - Alhambra Part 6 - Palacios Nazaries

The Hall of the Abencerrages is designed to be very cool in the hot summer months. This is because of the very high ceiling and that light only enters from above. With the fountain below and light above, it draws all heat up and maintains the temperature to 20 degrees Celsius.

The dome has incredibly detailed geometric designs.

...and the second. The effect of the shapes made by the carvers makes the effect pleasing to me.


The walls are nothing to dismiss either.


This wooden ceiling is also masterful.





The Hall of the Kings is on the East side of the Courtyard of Lions. 


On the ceiling are a few paintings of people that date to the latter era of Islamic rule in Granada. According to the Koran, images for use as idols are not permitted but this has been taken to one extreme or another as it has for Christian dominions before.
