Spain Day 13e - Sagrada Familia Outside - Passion façade

The Passion side deals with Jesus's crucifixion and immediate aftermath, as told in the Holy Bible. Gaudi wanted a dark atmosphere for this side, because this is the side the suns sets on and to disturb onlookers, which is why he started with the Nativity after the Apse. He wanted to give people happiness and hope first. Using Gaudi's sketches as inspiration and the walls done, in 1986 sculptor Josep Maria Subirachs started creating the statuary of the Passion façade and finished in 2005.

Next the Glory façade.
