Spain Day 19f - Toledo Steel

Toledo has been a significant manufacturer of steel weapons and tools from the Roman period and beyond. The technique traditionally uses an iron core wrapped in steel, to prevent the weapon bending or cracking. The "Soul of Iron" so to speak. The mystique of such weapons gained popularity and were much in demand. This was until the rise of firearm use in militaries. There are still some traditional Toledo steel makers but all the stores on the popular streets of Toledo just have tourist versions. You have to seek out the authentic makers for the real thing. Only two such workshops exist today in Toledo.

Here are some of the multitude of tourist focused weapon stores in Toledo. It was fun to see.
